My Review
4/5 Stars

I have been putting this book on hold for awhile because I love two other series by this author and I was worried that I might not like this one. I was wrong. I should have never doubted the wonderful Larissa Ione. This book had love, romance, revenge, heartbreak humor, action and some steamy scenes.

I love the story behind the vampire legend and how it is tied to Native American lore. I’m really looking forward to reading the next books to see how that developed.

Nicole I liked; she was smart, humorous and willing to be open minded by things. Even though she had a huge fear of vampires ( after what they did to her family I can see why but her family was pretty flipping evil for making it easy and acceptable to enslave vampires and how the treated the servants) she also loved her nanny vampire that she witnessed dying and she gave the other vampires a chance ( even though she escaped/tried to escape a few times out of fear).

Riker reminded my of other male characters from Demonica series and Lords of Deliverance series. Now while that might by annoying for some I actually liked those characters and I am glad to see that Riker resembled them but still had his own personality ( In my opinion). He was out for revenge but he softened towards Nicole and became more of a protector for her. I liked his humor ( the bit we see in between the grumpiness) and I liked watching him gradually accepting the feelings he has for Nicole. He pushes her away a lot but there is some complicated history between him, her and her family.

The rest of the character made the story more interesting to me and excited to see more of them.

Like I said I waited forever to pick this book up and read it because I was worried the author wouldn’t be able to make a third series that I liked as much as her other two. I was wrong. So wrong. I read it from beginning to end from 8pm to around 2am. It kept me turning the pages with all the action and wanting to see what happens next.

Great story, interesting vampire lore, great characters, action and humor.

Wonderful start to another awesome series by this author.

Everyone knows you should never say never.

The second Maggie sees him again, she realizes he’ll be impossible to resist. Luckily, commitment is the last thing on her mind, and Cooper is the perfect escape. About the author
Staci has been a lot of things up to this point in her life -- a graphic designer, an entrepreneur, a seamstress, a clothing and handbag designer, a waitress. Can't forget that. She's also been a mom; she has three little girls who are sure to grow up to break a number of hearts. She's been a wife; even though she's certainly not the cleanest, or the best cook. She's also super, duper fun at a party, especially if she's been drinking whiskey. Her favorite word starts with f and ends with k.
From roots in Houston, to a seven year stint in Southern California, Staci and her family ended up settling somewhere in between and equally north, in Denver. They are new enough that snow is still magical. When she's not writing, she's sleeping, gaming, or designing graphics.

Atlanta Burns ( Atlanta Burns #1-2) By Chuck Wendig

Atlanta Burns ( Atlants Burns #1+2)
by Chuck Wendig

Synopsis from Goodreads:

You don’t mess with Atlanta Burns.

Everyone knows that. And that’s kinda how she likes it—until the day Atlanta is drawn into a battle against two groups of bullies and saves a pair of new, unexpected friends. But actions have consequences, and when another teen turns up dead—by an apparent suicide—Atlanta knows foul play is involved. And worse: she knows it’s her fault.

You go poking rattlesnakes, maybe you get bit.

Afraid of stirring up the snakes further by investigating, Atlanta turns her focus to the killing of a neighborhood dog. All paths lead to a rural dogfighting ring, and once more Atlanta finds herself face-to-face with bullies of the worst sort. Atlanta cannot abide letting bad men do awful things to those who don’t deserve it. So she sets out to unleash her own brand of teenage justice.

Will Atlanta triumph? Or is fighting back just asking for a face full of bad news?

My Review

4/5 Stars

Dark gritty wonderful!

Great Cover!

She’s a negative young lady who has seen some dark things and has done something that has made the town rather scared of her. She sticks up for those who need someone to stick up for them. Even if she doesn’t want to.

Atlanta was a great broken, vulnerable, kick butt character that swore like a sailor and was tough as nails. She had moments where she was rather funny and through out the book I couldn’t help admire her and her tenacity.

The story its self is chock full of triggers. Rape, Animal abuse, Homophobia, lots of blood and violence. Still it made all for an interesting heart string pulling story. Kind of hard to read because of all the violent stuff that was going on but there were good times too. Reading about her actually developing friendships and trying to mend things with her mother were rather pleasant breaks from the darkness.

Dark, Violent, and a great story if you can handle it. I personally hope there is more Atlanta Burns stories in the future.

Hell hath no fury like a ghoul scorned

My Review:
5/5 Stars

Again a big fan of the cover

To me this series just keeps getting better. Ireland, Noah and Rip are back and heading to Manhattan to find answers. The run into Ridley who wouldn’t ya know has a tie to Poe. I love the backstory of Edgars life in the past and reading how he grew up with his affliction. Then coming back to the present and reading how Ridley deals with it and of course all the “fun” the gang get into when the long dead love Lenore comes back from the grave.

I find the romance between Ireland and Noah to be rather sweet and I adore how attached she is to Rip.

Such a fun twist on Poe and the Headless Horseman and again the characters are wonderfully funny, witty and sarcastic. This book took me one day to read because I didn’t want to put it down. It was a wonderful continuation of the Legends Saga and it has a wonderful cliffhanger/heartbreaking of an ending!

My Review
4/5 Stars

Love the cover! Might be one of my all time favorites!

Taking on one of my favorites and throwing in some fun twists. I think the author did a wonderful job.

At first I was a little taken aback by the jumping to the past and present but the author kept it by chapter so it was easy for me to get use to and it added more to the story reading about what happened in the past and how it related to the present of what is happening ( at least in my opinion)

I liked all the characters. Ireland at the beginning was not one of my favorites ( That would be Rip) but more towards the end she some how grew on my and I found her sarcasm to be rather funny. Noah was interesting if not suspicious character at the end though he I think really showed his true colors.

The story in general was great. The retelling of it and the mystery of who was killing the people of Sleepy Hollow was fun and kept me turning the pages.

All in all a wonderful retelling of a great legend with some awesome characters that you’ll recognize. Funny and some great action scenes.

My Review

*I got this for my honest Review*

This series and the covers I just love them!

Taking her story telling and adding some more characters and more famous stories/character retellings and weaving it like and expert to make such a wonderful book that is Steam.

Have I said I love this series? The characters are amazingly done. Ireland has gown and has become such an amazingly awesome kick butt character. She is up there with my top 10 favorite characters.

Preen’s story is so heartbreakingly wonderful. The story of HG Wells and why he is getting these characters together is wonderful and sad. So much going on in this story so much humor, so much heartbreak, so much joy and so many twists.

This book doesn’t disappoint and it leaves you with an ending where I was personally like WTF.. is there a next? There has to be a next! WHY!! I liked how it ended but it just ended in such a way that if Rourke decided to continue I think she could. And I will be there excitedly waiting on the next installment ( If there is one)

Through out the story I laughed out loud and read some lines to my husband. I frowned and sighed because there was so much pulling on the heartstrings. I read this book in about three hours I couldn’t put it down and now that it ended I have mixed emotions of happiness and sadness. This will be a series I recommend to people who like light romance and awesome retellings with great action, humor, and characters.

Giovanni's Angel ( Eternal Curse Series #1) By Toi Thomas

Giovanni’s Angel
Eternal Curse Series #1
by Toi Thomas

Synopsis from Goodreads:

“You have plenty of time to change your mind. You have not yet seen the monster I can be.”

Giovanni has been waiting his whole life to meet someone like Mira, someone from the outside world who might be able to help him. He wonders if there really is help for him as he continues to hold tightly onto dark secrets and even darker memories. Giovanni wants to be hopeful and he wants to accept Mira’s help, but first he has to look himself in the mirror and face what he truly is- and that is a reality no one is quite ready to accept.

Searching for new purpose and meaning in her life, Mira meets Giovanni online and an exciting and, in some ways, scary friendship is developed. Mira decides one day to meet Giovanni in person, at his secluded country home, in order to aid him on his journey of self-discovery. What these two are able to discover will not only test their strength and will, but it will stretch the limits of their minds and catapult them into a world where earth, Heaven, and Hell collide.

Giovanni’s Angel is the story of a man who may just be the answer to a spiritual war swiftly heading his way- but for now, he just wants to be a man.

My Review
3/5

* I got this in exchange for my honest review*

When I first started reading this story I was kind of thrown about the writting. To the point I made it to the second chapter and quit reading it for awhile. One, I kept reading it in my head with the voice from the narrator of Pocoyo. Two the title grabbed my but the first couple chapters couldn’t seem to hold my attention.

Once I picked it back up and continued to read it I found myself getting sucked into the world and wanting to discover just what Giovanni is and more about his past and the relationship between him and Abraham. Also, I wanted to see how Mira and Giovanni’s relationship would pan out.

Little less than half way though the book I was sucked in and couldn’t put it down. There wasn’t any real action scenes ( which I love some great kick butt action) but there was a great story about finding ones self and accepting others for who they are without compromising yourself ( In my opinion) . Mia was a strong female character though skeptical at first did finally believe the unbelievable as a doctor she did everything to find scientifically plausible answers for what Giovanni was. She wasn’t a pushover (which I greatly appreciated) and I found her to be an easily likable character. Giovanni was a troubled soul with so many questions about who he was but he always did his best to protect others. His and Abrahams history together was a sweet one.

For me it was slow to start but with peeking my curiosity towards the middle it kept me turning the pages even though there were points that seemed drawn out. The ending felt a little rushed though. This is a first book in the series and I enjoyed the mystery, mythology and story enough that I will pick up the next in the series especially to see if Giovanni finds more like him.

Frostfire ( Kanin Chronicles #1 ) by Amanda Hocking

Frostfire

by Amanda Hocking

Bryn Aven is an outcast among the Kanin, the most powerful of the troll tribes.

Set apart by her heritage and her past, Bryn is a tracker who's determined to become a respected part of her world. She has just one goal: become a member of the elite King’s Guard to protect the royal family. She's not going to let anything stand in her way, not even a forbidden romance with her boss Ridley Dresden.

But all her plans for the future are put on hold when Konstantin– a fallen hero she once loved – begins kidnapping changelings. Bryn is sent in to help stop him, but will she lose her heart in the process

My Review:
3/5 Stars

Trolls that are like humans but with powers or trolls that remind me of the elves I usually read about. Cool because they are trolls but why are the not elves? Are elves over done? I don’t know I dig all paranormal/fantasy stuff so trolls that are good looking and not slobbering neanderthals is cool.

Bryn she’s pretty kick butt. I totally dig the fact she wanted to be apart of the Elite guard and because of an almost killing by Konstantin who was pretty much an idol to her she’s now this kick butt tracker and disguised in the human world to find other trolls that are coming of age.

Okay, so the whole like changeling baby switch thing is pretty cool. Sad but I think pretty cool. I like how when she brings the kid back to the other world that she helps indoctrinate them into the society and try to help explain how things work for them.

Different troll factions different troll way of thinking. I look forward to reading more about the other factions.

The ending was frustrating but because I’m a curious person and I like how I think this series is going to go I’m going to be forgiving and read the next book in the series.

Action, fantasy, politics, back stabbing, revenge, interesting characters and although it lulled in places it was an interesting story.

Beautiful Disaster ( Beautiful #1) by Jamie McGuire

Beautiful Disaster

Beautiful #1
by Jamie McGuire

Synopsis

The new Abby Abernathy is a good girl. She doesn’t drink or swear, and she has the appropriate number of cardigans in her wardrobe. Abby believes she has enough distance from the darkness of her past, but when she arrives at college with her best friend, her path to a new beginning is quickly challenged by Eastern University's Walking One-Night Stand.

Travis Maddox, lean, cut, and covered in tattoos, is exactly what Abby needs—and wants—to avoid. He spends his nights winning money in a floating fight ring, and his days as the ultimate college campus charmer. Intrigued by Abby’s resistance to his appeal, Travis tricks her into his daily life with a simple bet. If he loses, he must remain abstinent for a month. If Abby loses, she must live in Travis’s apartment for the same amount of time. Either way, Travis has no idea that he has met his match.

My Review
4/5 Stars

Ehhh.. So I started out liking Abby she was trying to change the image that she had back in her home town and trying to become something more than what she would have been. I even liked Travis albeit he was the everyone wants me wham bam one night stand smart aleck flirtatious guy. He seemed sweet and he was funny and totally loyal to his friend.

Now when Travis started trying to win Abbys affection he was still kind of cute but slowly he became obsessive and honestly kind of scary. There were points where I was like “ Dude, Abby, you got to get out of there. That is not healthy.” As I continued reading and there were times where Abby did get away from him and I wanted to clap but of course he promises to behave himself and she forgives him.

Towards the end I liked them again even though I thought they whole relationship was a “Disaster” but I think thats how it was supposed to be hence the title of the book. It didn’t seem like the most healthiest of relationships and I didn’t like how aggressive he was but some people take their anger out like that. He was rather dependent and jealous of her but towards the end he seemed to work things out until her was a sweet devoted guy. And Abby after I kept thinking she was stupid for staying with him and being so upset about her past then what she did to him on Thanksgiving I didn’t think I’d every forgive her but she came through and I liked her sassy head strong persona again.

Anyway so as I can see why some people would not like this book and would not find the relationship to be a good one. I liked the story I had love/hate relationships with the characters which I think is a good for a story to play on my feelings for the characters and their situations. Could I relate to Abby probably not I’d probably be more like her roommate pointing out what a disaster her relationship is but being that it still didn’t make me enjoy Travis and Abby’s story any less. In fact I’m reading Walking Disaster and plan on reading Beautiful Oblivion to read more about the Maddox brothers.

Humor filled, heart wrenching moments, hot scenes, fighting and characters I feel you can easily lost yourself reading about.
