A Paranormal Shifter Romance
Vengeance is the only thing worth dying for.
Only love can save you.
Teaming up with a handsome shifter named Ephrem, the banished Princess Lilliana must find her stolen Ardent talisman before a sinister enemy uses it against both rival wolf pack strongholds. Thrown onto a path neither of them expected, they stumble across a third cell of supernatural shifters lurking in the city’s Outlands where tensions mount. These new strangers want nothing more than to disrupt the two royal strongholds, the ArcKnights and the MarkTiers, and reignite a long-forgotten feud from decades past.
In the treacherous City of Temple where supernaturals and humans intertwine, only the most cunning will survive.
My Review
4/5 Stars
I got an ARC for my honest review
This is one of those books where I saw the cover and had a “ohh pretty must have” moment.
Book#1 Ardent
Liliana is banished basically because she let someone get close to her and become her friend and that person stabbed her in the back. I liked Liliana she was headstrong and strived to be independent but she didn’t refuse any help. Especially from Ephram. Who she didn’t know at the time but they share a past and Ephram remembered her.
In book one we get a wonderful romance between Ephram and Liliana with a great mystery of what happened to the stolen artifacts and how where they going to get them back. Also happening is the story of Princess Rafeala ( Liliana’s sister) who is having trust issues with her husband ( now King) Gli. We read about her struggles of his not telling her things that she needs to know before everyone else does.
So we get the romantic story of Ephram and Liliana and the rather heartbreaking story of Princess Rafeala and Gli. The story both have heartbreak, humor, hope, mystery and action.
Book #2 MarkTier
Book one (for me )set up the world and the characters book two ( MarkTier) is really when it started getting good. Liliana’s mom has a secret! Who is Liliana and who are these cursed shifters.
Liliana is still coming to grips with being cast out and living with Ephram when she stumbles upon another shifter who is supposedly from a cursed pack that was kicked out by the MarkTiers. This shifter put some kind of spell on her to bring Ephram to the forest. Can Liliana fight the spell? or is Ephram in trouble?
I think we get more look into the way the ArcKnights work and how Gli really needs his Queen but can Gli keep her or will his recent action push her away. Queen Rafeala pretty much runs everything with the help from Alec ( The lieutenant who has a sweet spot for Rafeala).
So I really enjoyed this part of the book. Again we have action and a great story. It ended on a cliffhanger in which I’m waiting anxiously to find out what happens next with these characters.
This so far is a quick interesting take on shifters in an interesting fantasy land. The story pulled me in and had me continuously turning the pages to find out what happens next. There were times were it lulled but not long after I was sucked back in. The only issue I can see some people having is the fact that it is told from multiple point of views and there are many things going on ( Politics, Action, finding out about new cursed shifters) I think the author did a wonderful job though and every chapter was labeled with which characters point of view it was. I’m looking forward to finding out what happens next with these characters.
