One: Athena’s birth is pretty awesome. Two: Athena is like THE kick butt female goddess in my opinion. I she’s wise and doesn’t agree with her father that she is ready to be on Olympus she instead trains on Earth. She’s an amazing strategist and fighter.




I enjoyed every story about Athena. From how she got her name Pallas Athena ( both interpretations), How she added to her aegis to make it the most powerful part of her armor, how she came to help Perseus in his quest and the story of Arachne. All these stories were accompanied with wonderful artwork.






I think this books is great for those interested in Greek Mythology its kid friendly ( in my opinion, I’m reading these then handing them to my 8 year old to read) , fun , action and adventure filled stories. I love the questions at the end that I can go over with my son after he reads them also. And all the extra bits at the end is interesting.

For a history lesson on comic books I found this book to be extremely interesting.




The Author takes up from the birth of comics and the struggles it went through. Pointing out how they reflected what America was going through at certain times.







I thought it was a well written book about the history of comics. I enjoyed learning where it all started and the complications they had to endure and how they would pull themselves out of ruts and when they either had new ideas for new comic characters or they just pulled old ones back out and modify them.






Being new to the whole comic scene I found this book extremely informative as well as interesting. I’d recommend this to anyone like me who find the history of comics to be something they want to learn more about.

This book was given to my for my honest review.




This was set in the Emperors Edge world ( If you haven’t read that pick it up FANTASTIC series!!) Also it has to do with the characters from the Salt and the Sword series that she wrote and it has mentionings and appearances of other characters from other books set in the same world.

Warrior Mage can be read as a stand alone though.


We are introduced ( or reintroduced ) to Yanko a modest young man who at the beginning is taking his warrior mage entrance exam for a school. He has talent but towards the end of his exam he decides to show off and well ends up back in the family salt mines. While in the salt mines a catastrophe happens and Yanko escapes with his friend to go back to his village in which he has found pillaged,scorched and the villagers as well as his father gone. He ends up finding his brother that is in the military and has with him a letter from a Prince Yanko befriended in the Salt and Sword series in which sets him off on a course of adventure and mayhem. He takes his friend a female by the name of Lakeo with him and a mysterious Turgonian named Dak who owed him a favor. He comes across his lost free spirited crush and some interesting cast of characters all while being chased by a mage hunter and a seriously angry Warrior Mage foe.


I loved this book ( To be completely honest I love practically all the books this author writes) Action! Adventure! Pirates! a Jailbreak! A Kraken! Mayhem! Warrior Mages! A False Bard! Young Precocious Twins! Assassins! Reclaiming Honor! (Seriously what is not to like about all that? and its not even everything that makes this book so wonderful!)



The book was wonderfully fast paced and as in all her books the plot was complex and interesting.The characters were fun, smart and some of their pasts mysterious. Every time I had to sit it down I was looking forward to the moment I could pick it up and continue it. This book can be read as a stand alone. 

 The ending is quite the cliffhanger!! I’m excited to continue this adventure with Yanko and his friends.

So, i think this book started out interestingly but as I read even though there was action it go a little boring. Not enough for me to stop reading but kind of a lull where I kept thinking “ have I read this somewhere before?”. Even though there was some great action it just seemed way to familiar for me to enjoy it. BUT then we get to the end and things start getting interesting again. There is where we meet Knox and who he is keeping secret in the safe house that Cora and Mace hide out at. And we find out a secret about Cora. Also a possible betrayal in a tight nit group of vampires.




So for the first book in the series I found this good. The characters were relatively interesting the story flowed nicely even though it was rather…familiar ( I suppose thats the word I’d use). I enjoyed this authors other series ( Shadow Quest) a lot so I’m sure this series is going to be another one of hers that I’ll enjoy reading.






I don’t think you can really go wrong with this book if you like paranormal romance with vampires, decent action scenes, a few twists, humor, and of course the steamy romance scenes. I’m looking forward to picking up the next book in this series because by the end I could tell its going to get really good ( I hope).

It will definitely be one that I refer back to as my children grow older and come to grips in what they do or do not believe and to try and help out with their questions about other religions ( It has a nice cheat sheet in the back that gives a quick basic look at a variety of other religions)




Not only does this book give great examples and at times humorous ones from her life which will help me guide my kids into understanding and tolerance of all religions ( and a few I could actually relate to) but she also points out how religious literature could help out with the tolerance, and who doesn’t want their children to be well read?






I think the topic of religion was handled well and with compassion and facts. She didn’t single out any religions or say being religious or non religious is bad but she focused on acceptance, tolerance and education. She focused on how to teach our children to think for themselves and to be tolerant and accepting of all religions.






I for one found this book to be just what I needed as my children are growing older and being introduced to different religions and people ( and already both have encountered the “ You don’t go to church so you’re going to go to hell” ). I didn’t know how to talk to my kids about religion(s) now with this book ( and its recommendations )I have a wonderful guide full of facts, understanding and compassion to help me and to help them.

I enjoyed reading this book. Some places were a little hard to get through and I thought I wouldn’t finish it, but I’m glad I stuck to it and kept reading. You got your angels, vampires, witches and demons. Many bloody/ gruesome action packed scenes. And some twists that really surprised me. I love the love between Julie and Daniel. The book at times gave you hope with the true love conquers all type theme.


A Terrific story with Good vs Evil , True Love knows no obstacles, witches, angels, vampires and demons and bloody/gruesome action packed scenes and some wonderful twists thrown in.

I got this for my honest review




I was completely pulled in by the synopsis alone. I mean you got Archangel of Death, Assassin who happens to be an Incubus, a Freak’s Fair and the Apocalypse. Dude..I was sold!




I have to say though it was a rough but enjoyable beginning. Although I liked all the different types of characters running the freak show and I like Dani ( Kind of a kick butt, trying to go unnoticed, imperfect heroine) and Cain ( alpha, loveable/hateable and hopefully redeemable hero/assassain) there was just something that made the story off. Maybe, it felt a little slow going or just at points rather cheesy. I’m not sure but it just made me think I was not going to like the book. But! I continued reading because like I said I loved the idea of the story and I liked the characters so surely it had to get better. It did! the plot thickened. The pace picked up. There was great action scenes then it did tend to slow a bit further in before picking the action filled pace up towards the end again but that slow part helped set up the story more.




I think the author did a wonderful job with the world building especially with the Freak’s Fair.




This book like many first books of series I’ve read just had to be pushed through a little but it did set things up for what I see to be an exciting series that I’m very much interested in continuing.



Intriguing story, Great Characters, Angels, Demons, Dhampires Apocalypse, Banshees, Action, Assassins, Fallen Angels, humor,heartache and hope. A whole great list of what makes for a great urban/paranromal fantasy. I’m personally looking forward to the next book.

I really enjoyed this book. I’ve never watched Elementary but I did enjoy true blood and I definitely see where fans of True Blood might like this.




Anyway I thought it was an interesting take on Vampire and human relations. I liked Eli he was witty funny and an interesting vampire. He gives up his illegal vampiric lifestyle in order to get his american citizenship. Which means he has to start drinking synthetic blood, get a sober companion and as part of his parole ( not sure if you’d call it parole but I’m lacking for the actual term right now) he has a job helping the police catch murders by using his vampiric abilities. Not only does he have that all going on but he is on watch for the reincarnation of the love of his life ( who was cursed to die at the age of 25 and only remember him then and then reincarnate and he’d have to woo her all over and try to convince her to become a vampire.) Anyway this time the reincarnation of Elizabeth ends up being his sober companion Eric who has some secrets of his own.




Some of it was predictable and sometimes the flow seemed off and there was a few grammatical mistakes ( Since I am named Ashley I noticed the spelling kept switching from Ashley to Ashely for one of the characters… not a big deal to me but yeah….)






But all in all it was a great story with action, mystery and intrigue. I liked the ending. Enjoyed the characters and humor. It was fast paced easy and fun to read.

I don’t mind contemporary romance. Sometimes, it just happens to be exactly what I am looking for at the time.

I purchased this book awhile ago and it has been sitting on my kindle. Honestly I forgot about it and why I purchased it ( Turns out I read Addicted by this author and I really liked that book as well, so I grabbed this one). I just finished reading a few books and came across this one and decided what the hell it says circus and I like circus theme books. I find them beautiful. Then when I found out it was more like a Cirque de Soleil type of circus I got more engrossed. Especially after getting to know Thora a small town girl who started her gymnastic sport at a later age so she’s not like other gymnast but she has a dream that she bravely puts into action. She runs off to Vegas to join the circus to be an acrobat putting her college scholarship and her place on the team in jeopardy. She meet Nikola “ The God of Russia” the day she arrives and goes to a club to meet her roommate (the girl she’s renting a couch from). Nikola at first has kind of a wild charismatic personality he goes to this club to unwind by doing bets and if he wins he gets to pierce or tattoo the person that lost. Thora accidentally becomes the person. He also ends up being a huge deal in the acrobat circus world. He isn’t all that he first seems either.




Anyway, I loved all the characters in this book. They were all amazingly flawed brave people. The world building was beautiful everything from the description of the club, the circus and Vegas in general. The story although kind of slow at times was a beautiful story of being brave, falling in love , sacrificing things for those you love, family, hope and achieving your dreams.




I would like to throw in that I would love to read a story about Timo.






Great Cirque de Soleil type circus story, hot romance, humor, family, hope, heart warming, fun.

I'm going to start off by saying this is a wonderful series that I think kids an adults will love. It has your action, sci-fi, adventure, humor, heart as well as some twists. Zita is an adorable main character who is like any kid leaps into things sometimes without thought of the consequences but she is brave, forgiving and has such a big heart. I absolutely adored Zita and her friends.  I found the artwork to be wonderfully done and beautiful.  This is definitely going down as one of my favorite kid friendly graphic novels that I will recommend to anyone who just wants an adorable quick fun read or has kids that just want to read a fun sci-fi adventure with fun characters.

There are some kids books that I see and think this is too cute I have to read it! This was one of those.




A little girl and her friend find a spot where a meteor has hit and in the hole is a red button. Of course when you are confronted with a big red button what do you do? PUSH IT! When this happens her friend get abducted by aliens! Its up to Zita to save her friend!




I found this to be a cute entertaining adventure. Zita comes across some new friends including a huge mouse, a man called Piper who seems to either be some kind of crazy inventor, a blasterbot, a robot, and a Strongman type alien. Zita portrays bravery and kindness in her adventure to save her friend and even forgiveness when she is betrayed by one of her new friends.




I found the artwork to be well done and cute. The story was a fun, fast paced, humorous, sci-fi adventure.






So of course I’d recommend this to kids who like a fun sci-fi adventure and for adults who would like to read an adorable fun book. I also found it to be a fun book to read along with my 5 year old since some of the words were easy for him to read but there were still some he struggled with. So a great family read.

Of course I had to continue the otherworldly adventures with Zita and her friends! She’s now famous and everyone wants her autograph and be just like her! When she comes across a robot who mimics her image and is willing to take over fame duty so Zita can get a break. But… this robot is making trouble and now Zita is wanted.




More fun with returning characters and new ( including RingMistress who seems to have a past with Piper). I love the villains in this story. Honestly I just love this story Zita is just brave and sweet and has no problem giving second chances.




Fun space adventure with adorable characters, great artwork and a fun story.

Zita is wrongfully imprisoned along with her faithful mouse buddy! A mysterious someone is helping Zita break out of jail. Who is this? Why would they help Zita?



Characters from the past books come together to rescue Zita and Pizzicato. Will Zita’s rescuer betray her when they find out that they can get something they want from the warden?




Another fun space adventure that I adored. I love these characters and the story was fun. I’ve read that there are no plans for more Zita the Spacegirl books but judging by the ending I hope not. It has an ending which seems to be left open for more fun adventures! I love this series and would gladly read more. ( Even if it is for kids)




This author is becoming one when I talk books for kids with other parents I tell them to pick this series up the artwork is beautiful the characters are fun and the story is full of heart, adventure, humor, action and fun.




I liked after the story how we got the background on how Zita came to be.







Again, fun action packed space adventure with lots of heart, humor, and twists. And while I wait and hope for more Zita the Spacegirl I do believe I’ll be picking up other books this author has wrote he has such a fun imagination that I think kids as well as adults will like.

I adored The Rosie Project and finding out there was another book coming out with more of Don and Rosie made me extremely happy.




I thought this book was wonderful not as great as The Rosie Project but great none the less. I think the whole fun of The Rosie Project ( at least for me) was getting to know Don and maybe since we have already been introduced to him I feel that this wasn’t as great.




Now do not get me wrong like I said I thought this book was wonderful. We got Don and Rosie and their entertaining if not complicated relationship in which becomes more complicated with a baby on the way. I found the logical way Don thought of everything at times rather humorous and at times kind of heartbreaking. I mean the poor guy couldn’t just enjoy the idea of becoming a father he had to break it all down. I have to say though I adore Don he has to be one of the sweetest and thoughtful although not your “average” character. He gets himself into some problems that turn out to be rather hilarious and made me a few times laugh out loud. Rosie…. I just felt sorry for her from the beginning. Its not that I didn’t like her I just think her situation and how she was dealing with it and how Don logically responded was sad. I mean most of the time I thought Don was doing amazingly and was in his own way receptive to her needs but I could see where she would draw her conclusions in which seemed to cause their relationship to head for a downward spiral.






Anyway! Humorous, Slightly more serious than the Rosie Project, at times Hearbreaking, Hopeful and Heartwarming. I just adore these characters.

Ahhh what to say. I liked a lot of it. It just felt off… Maybe I wasn’t digging the whole slavery thing and virginity testing. Actually I think it was the virginity testing that made me cringe. The slavery thing I understand sort of. I mean you got these dudes from a distant future who go back in time to kidnap fertile women to sell to men in the future because the women then are mostly infertile. Theres always bad guys and they were definitely the bad guys. So, the virginity testing yup I think thats what made me drop it down and possibly because some of it was dark and the fact that she fell for Mace instantly. I mean lust for him even though he was technically a bad guy….sort of.




So the parts I like. Great action! Witty banter! I always love how this author make her women intelligent and able to kick some butt. And the main men or man tend to be honorable and respectful and they know when to help the females out or when to trust them to get themselves out of trouble.




Good story. I think the whole molestation vibe and the virginity testing thing throws it off for me. I did enjoy the later half of the book more than the beginning and I actually loved how it ended.






Time traveling! Humor! Kick butt and intelligent characters! Action! Explosions!

I’ve been in the mood for a good time travel book and I’m super glad I got this one.




It was super easy to get sucked into this book. Loved the characters!I found Josie to be charming and smart also still vulnerable and she had such a big heart. Taylor the loyal, strong ,secretive man that Josie finds her self being rescued by was easy to like and I enjoyed trying to figure out what his whole deal was. Fighting Badger who is a killer I actually ended up softening up to and rooting for.




Then I got sucked into the story and the adventure in which Josie finds her self to be on. There was the whole mystery part that I loved trying to figure out. I’m not sure Lizzy Ford knows how to write books without throwing in some great twists that at times leave me saying “ What!?” !






Great Characters, Time Travel, Mystery, Action, Adventure, Brain implants, Humor, the Wild West and an amazing cliffhanger of an ending! I’m excited to read East!

Another great addition to the Marked Men Series.




Rome came back with some issues that came along with seeing some terrible things while serving in the Army. Cora was there to be his bright light to help pull him out of dark times. Loved the chemistry that they had and Cora’s straight forward tell it like it is attitude.




We also got a glimpse into Nash’s story which I am excited to read next.






A couple twists and some shocking turns. All in all another great book. Fun series, quick read.
